Bottle Acceptance Rules

1. $6.00 fee for the first entry and $4 per each additional entry. Checks should be made out to the "New Jersey State Fair- CAHH".

2. Two (2) bottles must be provided for each entry.

3. Standard 12 or 16 oz. glass bottles preferred. Bottles must be free of any labels, tape, raised glass designs, etched logos, or other identifying marks. Swing tops are acceptable. No professionally/commercially brewed beers permitted.

4. A bottle entry label must be attached to each bottle with a rubber band, and a completed entry form and payment must accompany entries.

5. Entries may be dropped off or shipped to the designated drop off location during the entry period noted above. Early or late entries will not be accepted. Do not ship entries via the US Postal Service. Appropriate entry fee(s) must accompany entry.

6. Entries become the property of SCF&HS Creative Arts for Home and Hobby Division.

7. Entries may be rejected for questionable appearance, bottling, damage or failure to comply with these requirements.

Packing & Shipping Hints

  1. Carefully pack your entries in a sturdy box. Line the inside of your carton with a plastic trash bag. Partition and pack each bottle with adequate packaging material. Do not over pack! Write clearly: "Fragile. This Side Up." on the package. Your package should weigh less than 25 pounds. Please refrain from using "messy" packaging materials such a Styrofoam "peanuts" or pellets; please use packaging material such as bubble wrap.
  2. Every reasonable effort will be made to contact entrants whose bottles have broken to make arrangements for sending replacement bottles.
  3. It is not against any Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) regulations or federal laws to ship your entries via privately owned shipping company for analytical purposes. However, IT IS ILLEGAL TO SHIP ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES VIA THE U.S. POSTAL SERVICE. Private shipping companies have the right to refuse your shipment if they are informed that the package contains glass and/or alcoholic beverages. Be aware that entries mailed internationally are often required by customs to have proper documentation. These entries might be opened and/or returned to the shipper by customs' officials at their discretion. It is solely the entrant's responsibility to follow all applicable laws and regulations.

Awards

A First, Second and Third Place winner will be determined in each category and will be awarded a bottle ribbon and medal. The BOS round winner will receive a trophy.

The highest scoring entry in each category (receiving 34 points or more) will be entered into the Best of Show (BOS) round.

The BOS round will consist of at least three judges who will sample each entry and determine a winner through consensus. The judges' decisions are final.

Awards will be presented on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Richards Building located on the fairgrounds. Participants who will be attending the awards presentation should request a pass at the e-mail address noted below.

If a Best of Show is awarded, the champion brewer will be asked to assist the brewer at Kroghs Restaurant and Brew Pub, Sparta, NJ in producing the winning recipe to be sold at Krogh’s. The winner will be asked to name the beer which will be marketed as a “Seasonal”. *

*Krogh’s reserves the right to modify the winning recipe to conform to its brewing schedule and business requirements.

 Additional prizes may be awarded.
